Civic-Mindedness Starts with Us

Democracy doesn’t run on silence—and neither do our classrooms or communities.

One-and-done civics classes aren’t enough. Being an engaged citizen isn’t something you finish; it’s something you practice. Yet too many of us have learned to stay quiet, convinced that talking about how our world is shaped is too messy, too political, or too risky.

We’re two teachers who believe we’ve forgotten a simple truth: politics is just people participating in the conversations that shape our shared lives. If we stop talking, we stop participating—and that leaves decisions in the hands of someone else.

That’s why we’re on a mission to make it okay to talk again.

Through play, dialogue, and hands-on experiences, we educators and faciliators to create experiences that move from learning about civics to actually living it. We’re on a mission to create more connections and experiences where we can practice listening, questioning, disagreeing with respect, and engaging with the rules and systems that affect our every day.
